About the Head of Department
Dr. Anthony Nnalue
Dr. Anthony Nnalue is the current Head of the Department of Theatre Arts. A seasoned academic and passionate advocate for the performing arts, Dr. Nnalue is leading the department into a new era of excellence and creativity. Under his leadership, the department continues to foster innovation in performance, scholarship, and cultural engagement.
With a vision to bridge academic training with industry relevance, Dr. Nnalue emphasizes practical exposure, mentorship, and collaboration with professionals to prepare students for impactful careers in theatre, film, and related fields.

Welcome to the Department of Theatre Arts at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. Since our inception in the 2013/2014 academic session, we have been dedicated to enriching the educational, cultural, informational, and entertainment fabric of our university community. Originally a sub-unit under the Department of Music, we proudly became an independent department on February 8, 2014.
Our program is designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills in theatre studies. We invite you to join us on a transformative journey where passion for the performing arts meets academic excellence. Together, let’s bring stories to life on stage and beyond.

Over the years, the Department of Theatre Arts has been led by distinguished academic and industry leaders:
- Prof. Chijioke Agbasiere (2013–2015): Pioneered the department’s establishment and laid its foundational principles.
- Dr. Izuu Nwankwo (2015–2019): Guided the department through pivotal academic growth and curricular development.
- Mr. Ndigwe Fidelis (2019–2024): Strengthened departmental visibility and attracted a growing student population.
- Dr. Anthony Nnalue (2024–Present): Spearheading academic innovation and enhancing professional linkages with the industry.
